Sarah Bakker decided on her shoot at very short notice. Shortly before, she had discovered her new direction for herself – that moment when it suddenly becomes clear where things are meant to go. And she wanted to capture exactly that feeling: what it's like to have arrived at yourself.
So in the studio we captured precisely that. No staged poses, but her – clear, present, entirely herself.

She recognised herself in these images – and to me, that's the greatest compliment.
Today Sarah carries these images through her online programmes and via her website. They tell not only what she does, but why. That's exactly what I wish for every woman who stands in front of my camera: that her images make her stronger.
And this is what Sarah wrote to me after our last shoot together:
“Dear Kea, for years I've stood in front of you and your camera again and again. We could fill whole albums with the images you've taken of me – and every shoot has shown one more facet of me. This last shoot was different. It felt complete, because six months earlier I had gone through the biggest transformation of my career and was finally able to arrive at myself. Before, I kept trying to show or prove something – in this shoot I was simply allowed to be me. Light. Carefree. Happy, because I had found myself. And you captured that in every single image. Thank you for holding space, affirming, laughing & simply being you – never again a brand shoot without you 🤍”
